Hello!

My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise. Psalms 57:7

Music and song can communicate what simple words alone may not. As a voice teacher, composer, conductor, director, and performer, I’m passionate about teaching the art of music and voice with any student or production that is eager to learn how to express themselves through music. Every lesson or rehearsal is an experiment; an opportunity to play and discover the best technique for every client to achieve their fullest musical potential.

A Musician of Many Trades

I’ve spent my nearly twenty year career in and around Milwaukee, working as a professional singer/actor on stage, teaching and coaching students of all ages, conducting ensembles, directing shows and concerts, and even creating new music compositions and original arrangements.

I’m proficient in multiple genres of music including:

Classical – My extensive foundation in traditional/classical music offers students exceptional lessons in the world of chamber music and opera, and the ability to explore singing in languages (including French, German, and Italian), and the works of great composers from various musical eras in our rich musical history. I’m passionate about preserving this important genre of music and teaching it to future artists, as many important skills and techniques originate in this genre.

Musical Theatre – This is the most consistently popular genre with both young students and adults. As both a performer and music director, I have worked extensively in this genre from the early era of Broadway’s Golden Age shows all the way through to the current trends of modern musicals — I pass on my experience in specific techniques and styles through private coachings with students and performers. Specialized skills include finding the right vocal style for the show/era from legit techniques to in belting, mixing, and riffing.

Jazz and Pop Standards – I also love many of the standards from the ’20s-’60s — Songs that have gained popularity outside of a show and are considered part of the culture’s standard musical repertoire. Many of these pieces have become mainstays in cabarets and explore the modern art of personal storytelling through song. They’re also a wonderful gateway into the world of jazz singing, where you can explore different vocal textures and interpretations, breathing new life into these classic songs.

My Goal is Your Success

All of my students or productions I’ve lead have unique, individual goals. I’m proud to have worked with many students to achieve their goals and more.

Composition and Conducting – I’m passionate about bringing an artist’s musical vision to life, acting as the interpreter of music. Over the years, I’ve worked with many directors, musical groups, and individuals that have required original works and arrangements, and it’s some of my proudest work from my career. I’m driven to help any artist create any musical piece, concert, or production you envision, a drive them over the finish line by conducting live productions.

Music Directing – Having worked with several regional Equity theatres, opera companies, college theatre programs, and more, I have led several productions to successful opening nights. The composers of each production write every lyric and note with intention. THey leave clues for the performers to find that influence their performance. It’s my job to bring the entire production to their highest storytelling potential through the art of music. It is known in the world of live performance and storytelling when words aren’t enough to express the emotion of the moment, music is what brings the story home. I couldn’t agree more.

Vocal Coaching – Students who have been coached by me have gone on to continue studies with prestigious programs at nationally recognized institutions, participated and performed well in music and vocal competitions, and “nailed” their upcoming auditions with my audition prep techniques and land role after role.

Additionally, some students or performers focus on pushing through vocal or mental barriers that are keeping them from their highest potential, while others study to escape into the art of music, expand their repertoire, and promote positive mental health wellness.

I’m excited to work with every artist that is excited to learn more about music. Contact me, and let’s get to work!
